Tir na nOg

The land of Tir na nOg is the realm of the Otherworld, the place where the Fae live and heroes visit on quests. It is a place just outside the realm of humans, over the horizon, where there is no suffering or struggle or time, but only an eternity of happiness, joy and beauty.

Although an Otherworld, Tir na nOg is not an “afterlife” as it is an earthly place, a land of eternal youth. The very name, Tir na nOg, means the "land of youth".

Tir na nOg can only be reached by way of magic and plays an important role in the forming of both heroes and profound wisdom. The Tuatha de Danaan, a mighty and powerful people, lived in Tir na nOg and became the race known as the Fae.

Said to be the children of the goddess Danu, the Tuatha arrived in Tir na nOg then burned their own ships so that they could never leave.
